Europeans are quick to make the case that the unsophisticated Americans never understand the nuances of dealing with the world. They make the case that the United States is a nation of cowboys who shoot first and talk later. They hate George W. Bush and loved Bill Clinton. And that statement tells you all you need to know about the intelligence of old Europeans.

What Old Europe does not understand is American politics. Both political parties in the USA engage in politics but Democrats tend to do it more than Republicans. What parties say when out of power is not always what they will do if they regain power. I ask you to consider that there are many things that the real leadership of both parties know are true.

It seems clear by now that many of the nations once dominated by the Russians are becoming our good friends. Of course Russia under Putin is quite ticked that we are making friends and allies out of nations the Russians used to control. Some of those nations were under the Russian thumb back in the days of the Czars. That really ticks the Russians off. But Putin is reduced to making nasty noises about Bush in hopes of getting help from our media in reversing our policies toward the nations once subjugated by Russia. What Putin does not understand is that even a President Hillary would not side with Russia and old Europe either.

Hillary would play the game like Bill Clinton played Kyoto.. Clinton signed Kyoto sent it to the Senate for ratification. Where Greenies were surprised to find that every single Democrat voted against ratifying the Kyoto treaty. Of course Clinton signing Kyoto allowed Democrats to us it as an issue against Bush in 2000 and 2004. But the vote in the senate was 95 to zip against Kyoto. Five Senators did not bother to vote.

It is also clear that much of Western Europe is on its way to becoming our enemy. We are headed for a conflict with old Europe. It will not likely be a shooting war, but it is clear they are not on our side at all. They will likely oppose the USA no matter what we say or do. As long as we are the worlds only superpower old Europe will try to tear us down to their level. Europeans want to be as powerful as the USA. Even the most optimistic Old Europeans have doubts about a even a United Europe becoming as powerful as the USA. The ambitious realists in old Europe know the only way they can return to being a real power in world affairs is for the United States to be brought down. As the years roll on the French and Germans and perhaps even the British are apt to oppose the USA on every front the can.

What Europeans do not understand is that Democrats want their hands on the levers of power and they will say what ever it takes to get those levers in their hands. .Democrats want more power not less. It will come as a real surprise to Old Europe when they find that the Democrats are not their subservient friends. Democrats are opposed to Republicans. They are not in favor of old Europe becoming a super power.

The big short coming of Democrats is they are never in favor of taking proactive actions to preserve the position of the US in the world. They are never in favor of destroying our enemies before they attack us. It appears that an attack even worse than Pearl Harbor is enough to make them really fight back. Democrats do indeed play catch up.. but history shows they do play catch up.

The prime difference between President Bush and Democrats is Democrats always try to put problems off until later. President Bush always wants to solve them now.

There will come a time long before the current situation is resolved, when the Democrats will be back in power. After a year or two of Democratic duplicity, many old Europeans will be longing for the days of George W. Bush.

It is worth noting that Ike, Nixon, Reagan and even Bush 41 look better in history than they did when in office. It is also worth noting that of Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter and Clinton, only Truman looks better in the rear view mirror.

Anyone who thinks Germany and France will be our good friends and partners in the 21st Century is going to be very wrong. And if Germany and France confuse Democratic opposition to Bush as support for them are going to be very disappointed.
