Newt or Consequences Oct. 03, 2007 I just finished watching part of a question and answer period at the National Press Club, Newt Gingrich had addressed the club in mid September of this year. He was asked what the situation was in the war on terror and what we needed to do to win it. Newt put on his H. Ross Perot look, pretended to think carefully for a few seconds and finally allowed as how the situation was terrible. He said that the Muslims that want to kill us are not being condemned by any other Muslims. That they are recruiting 10 year old suicide bombers to take us down He quoted Tony Blair who said that the people who did the London train bombing were citizens of England, were employed and were enjoying the prosperous life. They had no criminal history. But they still wanted to kill us. And he said we don't understand the logic of those motivated by a religion that teaches the worst thing that can happen to them is spend eternity in his heaven, and that the infidels they kill will spend eternity in hell. I point this out as an H. Ross Perot pitch because the only solution he offered was that the American people need to unite in the war on terror as they did in World War II. He said in WWII our nation in four short years defeated Japan, Germany, and Italy and that we needed that kind of resolve again. Well Japan used suicide bombers against us. That is what the Kamikaze bombers were. They crashed their planes loaded with explosives into our ships. That part is similar. So my question for Newt are you recommending we use the tactics and strategies of WWII? If you are then why didn't you enumerate them? The reason is, Newt knows we would not accept or allow the tactics we and our allies used in world war II. A lot more of us have to die before we will engage in a WW II like response. Because to do what we did in WW II one must support carpet bombing of civilian areas in nations that harbor the terrorists. If that doesn't win the war then we nuke two major cities in the nations that harbor the terrorists. It is important that those two cities NOT BE CITIES that produce the people and weapons used by the Terrorists. They must me civilian cities with no military value. In World War II the slogan was "The only good Jap is a dead Jap." That is what we said in WWII. And it was on that premise that we acted. The Japanese figured we would attack from the sea with conventional weapons. They could cause us as many as a million casualties, Once we defeated their army and got on shore their civilian population could kill tens of thousands of our military in a guerrilla war until we pulled out. We countered by bombing civilian areas of Japanese cities. Hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians were killed. Burned to death with napalm induced fire storms killing tens of thousands of civilians with each bombing attack. But we were only copying the tactic Churchill used to defeat Germany's attempt to take Great Britain. Churchill knew the Luftwaffe's bombing of British airplane factories and airports, was going to allow Germany to win the battle of Britain. Britain was losing planes faster than they could make them. And it was only a matter of time until there were no more fighters to resist the Luftwaffe. Churchill ordered the British Air Force to bomb civilian areas of Berlin. When the bombing of civilian areas of Berlin killed a number of women and children, not to mention old folks, Hitler responded by ordering the Luftwaffe to bomb London. The factories and airports of England were spared as Hitler used his air force to attack civilian targets.. That was what Churchill was hoping for with his attack on German civilian targets. In Japan we carpet bombed civilian areas of Tokyo, and when that did not convince them to surrender we nuked two cities that had no military value and had not been bombed before. We let the Japanese know we were willing to nuke the entire nation and kill their civilian population before we invaded. Then and only then did the Japanese surrender. They were convinced that we would sooner kill them than look at them. But did Newt say that is what he meant, by emulating WW II? No, he did not. He said it took us 4 years to win WWII and 7 years to add a runway to a New York Airport. His implication was it is the government bureaucracy that is the problem. And by inference he said a strong leader is needed to tell the people the truth... Right. But the truth is, all Newt is good at is pointing out the problems. He has no intention of saying what it will take to win the war on terror. Except for meaningless words like resolve. He implied our State Dept bureaucracy was not good and we needed a WW II attitude. He does say that at at some point the Terrorists will get their own nukes and they will use them on us. We will lose a major city. He says the obvious we need to act before that happens. And when that does happen we will gladly give up our freedoms for safety. But not once did Newt say what we must do to win or how to get it done. Oh and in his little speech Newt mentions how he and the Clintons worked together to warn of terrorists and to try to prevent attacks on us. The inference was that the Clintons were more aware of the threat of terrorism than George W. Bush Like H. Ross Perot before him, Newt is only out to hurt George W. Bush. I think Newt is angry that George W. Bush did not use him at all in his administration. Now I think Newt wants to get back in the game in a Hillary Administration. If Newt believes that will happen, then he does not understand the Clintons at all. He will have no place in a Clinton administration. They will use him to win, and throw him away. Newt is a very ignorant man. He does not understand that any man who turns on his own parties leaders is never ever accepted by the party he helped to take his party down. The Clintons know that if Newt did it to Bush, he will do it to the Clintons. Newt, you have shot your self in the rump. No matter what happens in 2008, you are history. After the election no one from either party will even talk to you. Everyone with a brain knows it. However it appears that group does not include YOU!! |
